Susanne Bonowicz: 8 Rooms by Berlin’s OFFICE IMPART
Opening this Saturday, the exhibit will run for one week only, showcasing the Berlin-based artist’s vibrant explorations of urban spaces.

Berlin art gallery OFFICE IMPART will host the 8 Rooms exhibit, with an opening event this Saturday, March 19, between 12–6pm at Brunnenstraße 22 in Berlin-Mitte. An accompanying virtual representation of the exhibit is available on Artland.

Susanne Bonowicz was born in Osnabrück, Germany, and now lives and works in Berlin, having undertaken a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and Art History as well as a master’s degree in cultural management and tourism. Her paintings are based in metropolises as viewed through her own observations and memories, with each imparting an experience of the senses. The abstract cityscapes evoke sounds and smells alongside chaotic visual impressions, representing the diversity of the city and the tension between the urban and the natural.

I bring urban experiences and experiences to the big canvas. The often bright color selection describes very different metropolises. I try to make the city tangible in its contrasts, its dynamism and chaos, but also in its transience.
– SUSANNE BONOWICZ (TRANSLATED FROM STUDIO TALKS INTERVIEW).

The 8 Rooms exhibit showcases Bonowicz’s new works, each accompanied by descriptions penned by the artist herself. These fragments – some comprised of single words – are deliberate allusions to the New York City Beat Generation writing style of the 1950s, tapping into the state of urbanity across time and space. With bright paintings filled with contrasting chaos and structure, Bonowicz’s 8 Rooms exhibit shines new light on how we perceive the cities in which we live.

8 Rooms opens this Saturday, March 19, and runs until March 26 in Berlin. If you (like us) are nowhere near Berlin right now, take advantage of the VR gallery space on Artland to take in Susanne Bonowicz’s incredible works!
