The Best Sydney Trails to Explore This Summer
Get your hiking shoes on; we’re going on an adventure!

Hiking has been one of the most popular activities this year. That was one of the only outdoor activities we were allowed to do for months as we handled lockdowns as best as possible. Now that those are luckily over, we are still enjoying our weekly dose of hiking over some of Sydney’s most scenic views and trails. Suppose you’re up for a road trip or a weekend away, as the weather becomes more excellent on the coast – we’ve gathered some amazing recommendations for you! The goal? To discover and explore Sydney’s most beautiful nature spots.

The 6 Best Hikes in Sydney

Bondi to Bronte/Coogee

One of the most emblematic of all, this famous coastal walk is as beautiful as it gets. We recommend you choose a sunny day to do this one so you have the perfect opportunity to stop on the way for a few ocean dips along your journey. If you’re in luck, you might also catch some whales having fun around the surfers. If you are looking for something lighter, get to Bronte and turn around, but if you’re looking for the whole experience, you should gear up and head to Coogee. We highly recommend taking a break in Gordons Bay; you can thank us later.

Manly to Spit

10km of speechless adventures are on the other side of this walk. Depending on your pace, it can take between 3-4hrs to complete it but, to be honest, if the company is as good as the views, you won’t even realise that you’ve been walking for hours… A must-see along the way is the Grotto Point Lighthouse, which deserves all the attention and pics it can get.

Barangaroo Reserve

This one is for city lovers. Did you think the only beautiful hikes in Sydney were isolated? Take another look and enjoy the views at the newest Darling Harbour spot – the perfect urban spot for a walking enthusiast like you. Our only recommendation is that you visit it over the weekend. Why? You’ll enjoy the magic of markets as well as the superior truly native flora experience around Sydney Harbour. A great idea if you are doing the walk with kids.

Barrenjoey Lighthouse Walk

A treasure to look at, also known as the Palm Beach to Barrenjoey, this is one not to miss for a well-spent summery road trip. There are a few things to keep in mind as you’re climbing – get excited for the gorgeous waterfalls and take the time to enjoy a crystal-clear view everywhere you look, with Palm Beach on the left (east) and Pittwater to the right (west). The Barrenjoey lighthouse shouldn’t be missed, either. Grab some water and spend the day on nature’s best.

Bundeena to Otford

Known as the Coast Track, this is one heck of a gem to check out. We recommend you spend the weekend in Bundeena if you can and take on scenery that’s worth a look at. What can you find along the track? Raw nature at its best; some sprawling rainforests, hidden waterfalls, rock pools, and a beachside campsite for those looking to spread the 26km trek over two days. You can shorten it and take your journey to the Wedding Cake Rock, one of the hottest spots to match your IG feed.

Watsons Bay to Hornsby

Were you planning to spend the rest of the day by the beach? Start at Watsons Bay and let yourself get lost as you reach the Camp Cove waters, a secluded calm spot for the perfect afternoon swim. From there, be sure to check out a walk along cobbled stone paths up to the historic lighthouse. If you’re feeling like it, there’s also Lady Bay Beach on the way, one of the most well-known nudist beaches in the Sydney area.
